Much love to Lilu & Richard Wheeler who got wed in Kings Norton yesterday and had their wedding bash at the gorgeous St Nicholas Place. Musically, the evening was a cross between 90′s student disco and 80′s sing along with a tiny bit of bhangra thrown in!
With Lilu and her family being Indian I was able to dazzle them with the sum total of my bhangra collection – 1 song! And that was one from a telly advert (Peugeot 206?) but was received very well.
The great thing about having the Indian touch was the buffet (sorry to be shallow but blokes and their belly…) I’ve never had wedding fayre that’s so spicy. Mint!

Good luck to Ian and Marie who get married today (Bank Holiday Monday) in Solihull. I’m really looking forward to being their wedding DJ at Hogarths tonight. I have to admit to silently questioning the idea of getting wed on what is traditionally the wettest day of the year but the gods of weather are smiling and today is going to be a stunner. Ian and Marie have fireworks, a singer and a MASSIVE party to luck forward to!
I’d like to offer huge congratulations to Mr and Mrs Mark & Katie Portou who got married on Saturday. Their wedding disco at Blakelands Country House was one of the best we’ve had this year. The room was packed with real party people who know how to enjoy themselves. These parties are always such a pleasure to be associated with. Thanks!
I’d love to be your wedding DJ at any venue across the Midlands. Click here to get in touch!
Congratulations to James and Sam Keeping and a massive thanks to their family and friends for an amazing night last night. I’ve said before that there’s something about Ettington Park in Stratford. It ALWAYS seems to be a good night and last night was no exception.
Rarely do I get the chance to dust off 80′s indie classics like Primal Scream’s ‘Rocks Off’. Add this to a musical playlist as diverse as Rolling Stones through Take That, and the dancefloor simply bounced all night. A light smattering of cheese (the Proclaimers for the kilted Uncle Ronnie) and even the Prodigy featured.
Of course the playlist is largely at the direction of the client but Sam and James got it spot on last night – and they know some party animals too! Wedding DJs in Stratford Upon Avon rarely have as much fun. Thanks.

Two weeks in the South Of France is feeling like a distant memory already. One week, 7 Heart radio shows, 2 weddings at New Hall (Sutton Coldfield), another at Ettington Park (Stratford Upon Avon) and one corporate gig later… I need another holiday!
No complaints of course – August is wedding season after all. Although I hate to say but the ‘Christmas’ word is being mentioned in enquiries a lot already. Is it really that time already?!
For wedding DJs in the West Midlands & Warwickshire please click here and may I be the first to wish you a happy christmas! If you can’t beat ‘em…
I can’t believe how long some of my clients spend deliberating over what song to choose for that first dance. I’m sure it causes more arguements that just about any other wedding decision. Of course some couples are far more flamboyant and want to turn the whole thing into a cabaret.
There’s actually been a big increase in the number of couples hiring dance instructors to help them perform choreographed routines at their wedding. Experts reckon a 30% increase in rehearsed dancing is due in part to the popularity of shows like Strictly Come Dancing – but also seeing other couples on YouTube. Some choreographed and rehearsed routines have as many as 12 million views online. It’s even said the average couple now spends around £250 on dance lessons and choreography for their big day. One of the most common requests is learning how to Moonwalk!
Now I can’t help with the dancing but I can produce amazing music sequences to rehearse with. This is all included in my wedding fee so hire a wedding DJ in Birmingham / West Midlands who can really help with that special routine.

Tonight I have the pleasure of entertaining Loretta & Gareth and their guests as we celebrate their wedding at Highbury Hall in Moseley. As with all wedding DJs in Birmingham, being local for an event is always a pleasure especially at a venue as beautiful as this. With historical, stately splendour and rolling green lawns it’s hard to believe that you’re in the middle of Brum!
Right, first dance is minutes away – must dash!

This is shocking and I have to say (in my experience as a wedding DJ) not entirely true. Apparently brides are becoming so nervous about their appearance ahead of their wedding day that they intentionally pick fat friends to accompany them up the aisle, according to research. One in three engaged women in the Midlands admitted that they would choose an overweight friend to be their bridesmaid in order to make them look comparatively slimmer. How bad is that?!
I don’t see much evidence of this but to be fair I’m not involved in the bridal party selection all that much! So I can’t help with chubby mates but if you need to hire a wedding DJ in Birmingham or The Midlands then I am quite useful

Call me lazy but I haven’t blogged in weeks and I feel so guilty. I have been a busy boy though. This weekend holds a Civil Ceremony in Solihull, a wedding in Stratford Upon Avon and two radio shows! Ok, not so much lazy but more nose to the grindstone.
I’m delighted that my role at Heart 100.7 will be changing soon and whilst I’ll still be very much on air, I will have a little more time to devote to the disco business. More on this next week though.
Right, I have gig preperation to do so if you’ll excuse me. I’ll see you at the Forest Of Arden on Friday for Kirst and Saras’ do or on Saturday at Ettington Park for Gary & Hayleys’ wedding party. Both look like big fun with some real party people.

When I meet with brides to discuss entertainment there’s always one thing that gets mentioned – the big day diet. Well worry not – I’ve just read today that brides shed more than a stone ahead of their wedding day! How?
According to a study many brides deliberately order a dress that’s too small – to make sure they reach their target weight. Over 50% lose 1st 2lb in the run up to their wedding, while 1 in 10 slim down by a staggering 2st. But things change dramatically after they tie the knot… One in five of the women polled admitted they put the weight back on within the first six months of marriage and 14% said they started piling the pounds back on while they were still on honeymoon. 15% of women even turned to comfort eating because they were so upset that the wedding and honeymoon was over. Oh dear.
So let me get this right – you lose weight, gain 14 stone of male balast and then put more on!
Without blowing my own trumpet I have lost 2.5 stone in the last 3 months so I’ll be happy to pass on any tips. Ok, maybe I should just stick to being your wedding DJ. Contact me here for either!

How busy are things?! Look I’m not moaning but I did intend to blog regularly throughout the summer. Weddding DJ commitments seem to have me only finding a weekly opportunity to sit here and type. Pah!
Congratulations to James & Claire who celebrated their wedding at the Forest Hotel in Solihull on Saturday night. It was a fab do with the suited and booted getting down to a good bit of indie, ska and 2 tone! The groom is a fan of live music and insisted on The Specials. Erm, who am I to argue?!
I’m looking forward to meeting clients at Ettington Park Hotel (nr Stratford Upon Avon) on Wednesday night to discuss their musical needs, then The Botanical Gardens (Birmingham), New Hall (Sutton Coldfield) & The Forest Arden (Warwickshire) all feature in my list of places to plan wedding discos for.
Of course I’m not complaining. I love being busy! Hire a wedding DJ in Birmingham or beyond by clicking here. If I don’t keep busy I’ll blog more and you don’t want that!
