Aid For Haiti Celebrity Family Day Ricoh Arena (Coventry)

Today, at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry, stars from television met their fans at a family charity day to raise funds for the victims of the Haiti earthquake. Dave Clarke joined other colleagues from Heart 100.7 to compere as actors from Britain’s favourite soaps (and one or two surprise guests) dropped in.

The stars from soapland stopped by and there were photo opportunities with faces from Coronation Street, Hollyoakes and Eastenders.

Adam Woodyatt (Ian Beale) was the main driving force behind the event.

The lovely Michelle Collins (Cindy Beale)

The one, the only, Nasty Nick! (John Altman) who sang a number, too.

Dave Clarke joined Ed James and Rachel New from Heart as event host while there will also be an indoor fairground and performances from local bands and dancers.

The lovely Rachel New (from Heart Breakfast) is my former producer from Galaxy days. We're still good mates.

The Stig was on hand to keep an eye on George (my eldest). I think George was ever so slightly intimidated!

All the proceeds from the family charity day will be given to help the survivors of the earthquake and although we’re awaiting the final total, you can rest assured it’ll be in the tens of thousands. Great work everyone!

A little ‘behind the scenes’ from a big wedding!

As you can read from previous posts last Saturday I was the wedding DJ for Grace and Mike Hughes in Leamington. I’ve waxed lyrical about the bash already but here’s a little video for you. Bear in mind that it’s no pro job and a little shakey but it’s good fun! Enjoy…

I’d be delighted to supply your wedding entertainment. Click here to get in touch!

A wedding do to remember!

Last night Mrs C and I were the wedding DJs for Mike and Grace Hughes at the Spa Centre in Leamington. And what a do! It was a great pleasure to provide wedding entertainment for over 400 guests in a traditional theatre type venue. Irish dancers, air guitarists and a 9 piece swing and soul band made up the entertainment when I wasn’t on stage.

The bride and groom were real fun as were their friends family and guests. From the off the atmosphere was fab and the night was a pleasure to be involved with. Being high up on a stage gives you a great vantage point and it’s a real pleasure to watch a throbbing dancefloor.  I’m really proud that happy smiles are becoming a Clarkey dancefloor trademark, with the odd ‘hands in the air’ moment too!

Big love to Kelly, too. After exhausting training for all of 10 minutes and heaps of practice (another 10 minutes!), Kel finally took to the decks to drive the music whilst I hosted the air guitar competition. She did a top job too. Well done, Babe!

A mention for the band too. Stirling Austin and his Swing & Soul band are a 9 piece from London who kept the crowd moving brilliantly. A mixture of swing, motown, big band and soul really complimented my pop, dance and R&B tunes. Live musicians are always a pleasure to work with but a swing band with brass section and all was a real experience.

Watch out for some video footage too. We had a little handycam doing the rounds and I promise I’ll post some video very soon.

I’d love to entertain you and your guests for any celebration, big or small. For a very special birthday party DJ, wedding DJ or event host / compere, click here.

And thanks to my beautiful assistant…

It’s just dawned on me that I’ll need an extra pair of hands for this Saturday night at the Spa Centre in Leamington. I shall be the Wedding DJ for Grace and Mike this weekend but there’s rumours of a massive air guitar competition that I will need to compere. How can I be behind the decks playing the loud stuff AND be on stage keeping an eye on homicidal air axemen and women?! Easy – train Mrs Clarke in the ways of the wedding DJs!!

So far so good and whilst I’d like to take credit as a class tutor, I have to say she’s a natural! Maybe it’s the whole women being able to multitask thing?!

Headphones round the neck, fingers flying over the pans… just stop with the Bon Jovi now Kel, PLEASE!!!

Know what? I’m gonna have me a weekend off and send the wife out instead! Yup. There’s a brand new wedding DJ for Birmingham and beyond. It’s K to the C!!

Need something special for your wedding entertainment let me know and I’ll either send Kel or myself ;o) Get in touch by clicking here

Wedding season 2010 is under way!

Well it will be this Saturday as I’m the wedding DJ for guests of Mike and Grace Hughes at The Spa Centre in Leamington Spa! The Spa Centre is a big 400 capacity venue that is cracking for a large wedding. With the staging and theatre style seating the room really lends itself to a professional do. There are few wedding DJ services that can carry off entertainment at a venue of this size and I’m very proud to have the opportunity to wheel out the big rig for this one.

As Mike and Grace both work in the medical profession there will be consultants, doctors and nurses aplenty and boy, can the 999 brigade party. I shall have the pleasure of introducing Stirling Austin and his band as well as being event host and compere for the air guitar competition. Oh and yes – there will be photos posted here next week!

Get in touch if you’d like the best Wedding DJ in Birmingham or beyond to entertain your guests, oh and 2011 is getting busy already so shout sooner rather than later.

I’ll see you in Leamington on Saturday for the bash!

Aspire Awards 2010, ICC Birmingham

Last Wednesday evening it was my great pleasure to be an event host and aftershow party DJ for the West Midlands Fire Service Aspire Awards Ceremony at ICC Birmingham.

The great and the good were there including many senior fire officers, lord and lady mayor and mayoresses and distinguished business folk of the West Midlands. There were also many, many brave fire and rescue staff there to receive nominations and awards. I was honoured to present the award that recognised Sporting Achievements.

…Oh and yes, I was the only person rocking brown shoes! How common… ;o)

A few famous faces stopped by too including Britain’s Got Talent finalist Julian Smith who quite literally blew us away with a few tunes…

Thanks to all at West Midlands Fire Service. It was great to be involved with the Aspire Awards 2010 and we look forward to the event going from strength to strength.

If I can help with your corporate event please get in touch here.

Here’s one from the ‘random pile’!

Go into any radio station in the UK and you’ll find a heap of CD’s sent by record companies and pluggers. Invariably they will be the biggest heap of junk ever with no hope of nearing the playlist. We call them the ‘random pile’ and if for no other reason than 5 minutes to fill, I found myself combing the pile today. The result? THE most random CD I’ve ever heard!

Promising a ‘heavy metal tribute to the Bee Gees’ I just had to pop ‘Tragedy’ by We Rock Sweet Balls And Can Do No Wrong into the CD player. The result is frighteningly good. Now admittedly I can’t see many wedding djs in Birmingham or the West Midlands rocking this but hell, it’s funny. Let’s be honest the Steps cover of ‘Tragedy’ wasn’t exactly immense but these guys really do add a dimension. Oh and ‘How Deep Is Your Love’ (once covered by Take That) works as a headbanger. Yes, I know…!

Get in in the shops and it looks like this:

Get it online here: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Rock-Sweet-Balls-Can-Wrong/dp/B001GRT69C/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1265052315&sr=8-1

Or wait til Heart 100.7 throw out the random pile into a skip and get it for free!!!

Oh and I’m waiting for the first bride to demand this at her wedding reception. It soooo won’t happen. Click here if I can help with your wedding entertainment and you want to prove me wrong. ;o)
