Look what I came across this week as I was preparing for my Afternoon Show on Heart 100.7 - A woman has created a wedding dress that doubles as the wedding cake!!
This wedding cake dress was created by Lukka Sigurdardottir. Apparently you can cut out a delicate slice to reveal a rainbow-colored filling. Mmmm.

Now this gives another meaning to that ‘big wedding merangue’.
Searching for wedding DJs in Birmingham or beyond? I’d be delighted to provide a high quality mobile disco for your wedding reception but I’m not edible and I probably don’t taste very nice! ;o)

As I mentioned on my afternoon show on Heart 100.7 the other day, Daniel Powter’s 2005 hit ‘Bad Day’ has been named the biggest one-hit wonder of the decade! The track came first in the list compiled by Billboard.
So how did they work this out? Simples. The acts and songs were ranked by how high their hit single climbed on the Hot 100 compared to how far down the tally their subsequent highest-charting effort peaked.
So, the top ten one-hit wonder singles are:
1. Daniel Powter: ‘Bad Day’
2. Terror Squad: ‘Lean Back’
3. Crazy Town: ‘Butterfly’
4. MIMS: ‘This Is Why I’m Hot’
5. D4L: ‘Laffy Taffy’
6. James Blunt: ‘You’re Beautiful’
7. Gnarls Barkley: ‘Crazy’
8. Blu Cantrell: ‘Hit ‘Em Up Style (Oops!)’
9. Bo Bice: ‘Inside Your Heaven’
10. Dream: ‘He Loves You Not’.
I’ll confess to 7/10 (which is hardly suprising as I am a DJ after all) but I won’t say WHICH ones. No, no, no… ;o)

The snow has finally gone (woohoo! – I’m not a cold weather person) and the motorbike actually came out for an hour this morning! Ok, it was only as far as the garage for a little work to be done, but hey, it was fun! I know I’m foolishly optimistic but with the thaw out, the changing of the season isn’t far away. This means motorbike riding aplenty. Yup yup!!
February approaching also means that wedding season is about to kick off. Wedding fayres are a Spring favourite and I can almost see the soon to be brides wondering hand in hand with a fiance who’d rather be at the Villa/Blues/West Brom/Pub… You know who you are! ;o) Here I should mention Michelle who is getting married at the Marriott Forest Of Arden in Meriden, in November. Michelle came across us after searching for wedding DJs near Birmingham and we had a gas on the phone. Not only is Michelle’s Intended in Afghanistan but her brother is too. She is organising her wedding while her fella and family are many thousands of miles away and doing their bit for us. One plucky lady. All of a sudden those wedding fayres aren’t so bad, are they fellas?…

How us 4×4 drivers get slated – until the snow comes down!
We’ve just come back from a consultation with wedding clients at the gorgeous Ettington Park Hotel where I’m very much looking forward to being the wedding DJ in April. Situated in rural Warwickshire the hotel sits in beautiful grounds with fine views for miles. Fine - until it comes to getting in and out down a windy, undulating country lane – in sheet ice and snow!
Zoe and Andy are lovely and we talked through their wedding plans, music styles, running order etc. All was fine ’til it was time to go and Andy’s beautiful rear wheel drive sports car was having none of it. Fortunately I was ready equipped with ratchet straps (us, bike racers!) and a tow was the easiest way out. Now for the fun…
Nearly an hour later and after spinning up and down hill, digging tyres out, pushing, preying and nearly losing both Andy’s car and mine, we arrived at the cleared A429. Ah, tarmac! Andy and Zoe were on their way and we used the ‘burnt calorie’ excuse to enjoy a mahoosive cooked breakfast.
Sitting here now in warm dry clothes we’re laughing about the lengths we’ll go to for our friends and clients. Still, this is what the snow is all about.
If I can help you by being your wedding DJ in Birmingham or beyond then please contact me. If your car is stuck in the snow I’ll also be happy to help. But the RAC maybe slightly quicker!!

Just before Christmas I was proud and honoured to be invited to compere and DJ at the Rock With Laughter Aftershow Party, at the LG Arena Birmingham.
The Pavillion at the NEC had been transformed to fully themed Christmas Party heaven with food, drink and dancing aplenty. Having already spent the evening laughing and dancing, the crowd were in a real Christmas Party mood and the atmosphere was electric. Elton tribute ‘Rocketman’ and Coventry’s own ‘Subterraneans’ provided the live music …

and I DJ’ed until late to keep the party rocking.

The stars were all out too. Loads of famous faces from music and comedy were floating around the room. Of course I had to stop Pete and Lenny for pics…

I know it’s a way off but when this years Christmas Party needs planning, get the boss to consider the Rock With Laughter Show & Party. You’ll love it.

A very Happy New Year to you and I hope that 2010 brings you everything you desire.
What a hectic few weeks it’s been and I apologise for not blogging sooner but it’s been a maelstrom of Christmas parties, seasonal celebrations and Auld Lang Syne singing. I’ve entertained at the amazing Rock With Laughter aftershow parties, seen the New Year in with Eventertaining at Middleton Hall and DJ’ed at a host of drunken Xmas do’s. All good fun if not a little tiring. I have some great pics that will be on the blog and facebook soon so please check back later in the week.
So January is a little quieter and although I’m back on air 5 days a week from today, it’ll be nice to reacquint myself with my gym this week. The Christmas Pudding has taken it’s toll I’m about half a stone on. D’oh. It’ll soon be off though. In fact I’m just about to have an iTunes tidy up and make a brand new ‘gym playlist’. Any suggestions for a good workout tune?! Go on, I’m forever playing songs for everyone else so you help me out here… ;o)
