As I sit under grey bank holiday skies in Birmingham with fading tan all that’s left are happy holiday memories and a bunch of pics. Be rude not to share a few then?
This year for the third year in a row we’ve gone ‘free range’ on a Keycamp holiday. It’s not camping it’s ‘glamping’ with a luxury mobile home on a top notch resort. With tongue firmly in cheek here’s a little guided tour for you…
Ah, the South Of France… The freedom of living in shorts and t-shirts for two solid weeks is a fantastically liberating experience and with night time lows of 24c Kel frequently found herself still bikini’ed up at 10.30pm. The food is fresh, the air is pure and everything is geared to outdoor living.
How much time the boys spent in the pool , at the water park and out cycling is incalcuable. Not only do they have little brown bodies but they both look and feel fitter and happier.
Yes it’s a long drive down (some 1900 miles for the round trip) but when you’re on resort the car can gather dust. We took our bikes with us this year and did all our exploring under pedal power. Of course you can hire the bikes on site but if you have a tow bar and carrier why not take your own?
No cycle needed to get to the beach though. A two minute stroll over 400 yards of sand and there you are… in the Med! No heavy tides, clean, golden sands and good shallow wading. Perfect for the kids!
Needless to say that the apres-sun was pretty good too. A bunch of fun, if pricey local bars, creperies and glaceries were just the tonic. The ice cream felt as good as the after sun lotion!
Oh and for Mom and Dad, a grown up ice-cream. OK, a roaring whiskey based cocktail that really made one, erm… happy!
Thanks for stopping by and checking out the pics and vid. If this seems like your sort of holiday then I can highly recommend the Keycamp type of holiday. You never know - we may be neighbours next year! Oh and if we are, the snoring… that’s the wife. Honest! Ahem…
OK it was a somewhat lazy, sunshine weekend which included little apart from BBQ and riding motorbikes but I did do some work. On Sunday afternoon I popped out to Redditch to go and see Lee and Charlie and look at their wedding plans.
Charlie became a reality radio star on my Galaxy Breakfast Show some 5 years ago and she’ll always be fondly remembered as ‘Charlie Queen Of Stunts’ to this day!
That was then, this is now. Charlie and Lee are really keen for me to bring the party when I’m their wedding dj in September and with rumours of Vanilla Ice and Baby D, it’s sounds like a big one!
I’ll see you in September to celebrate with Mr and Mrs Street and in the meantime, if I can be your wedding DJ then click here!
All work and no play will make Dave a dull boy! Time for more two wheeled shenanigans!! Let’s face it with the school holidays now nearly two weeks old the kids have really started to kick proverbial lumps out of each other. What better way to entertain the little ones than with a little two wheeled action?
Running alongside the Honda Ron Haslam Race School, Honda’s My First Licence gives kids (from toddler upwards) a first taste of riding a motorbike. Here’s a very small video taster!
Yes, Kel and I are bikers and the kids love riding pillion but I know they’d dearly LOVE to ride their own machines. The thought does fill you with horror doesn’t it? Exactly why you should book the My First Licence experience. It’s friendly, safe and completely free!
The right kit is as essential at 5mph as it is at 155mph so My First Licence starts in the kit room. Armour jacket, pads, gloves and helmet protect the kids.
Bikes are NOT just for boys! Here’s 8 year old Katie getting some throttle advice…
It’s Bill’s turn to do his thang… and with a guiding hand he’s flying!
You have to hand it to the Honda guys. They get their excercise!
George has a go, too…
…and is soon tackling the roundabout!
And the best part? Well gaining your first licence of course!!!
Good work lads! And good work Honda, too. A friendly, informative and educational session leaves little chests puffed out like pigeons. It’s fantastic that My First Licence is completely free too!
Of course after the little ones you can always nip over to the track and watch the big ones in proper action on the Honda Ron Haslam Race School. Worth noting too that you don’t need a bike licence for this and just knowledge of a geared bike will get you out. Bike and all kit provided! Why not go and visit the massive Donington Park race museum too? Go on – make a day of it!
Suddenly the summer holidays don’t seem so long!!
Right back to work - I have a couple of weddings to plan! Need a wedding DJ in Birmingham or West Midlands? Book me here and I’d be delighted.
Thanks to the now Mr & Mrs Mason for a fab night last night! I had the pleasure of being the wedding DJ for Lisa and Steve – and WHAT a night…
In the surrounds of the gorgeous Hotel Du Vin I played a combination of Acid Jazz, Latino, Cuban, Ratpack & Motown through the early part of the evening. The party really kicked off with a bunch of Ska and 80′s quasi-punk classics though. I’ll bet I was the only Wedding DJ in Birmingham to play Animal Magnet’s ‘Welcome To The Monkey House’ last night!!!
Of course the reason for this is that the couple were quite specific in our playlist planning. There had to be some Ska and Two-Tone on their wedding night and that was FINE by me. There really is something so satisfying about watching a bride and groom, dressed head to toe in finery, pogo-sticking like nutters!!!
I’d love to be your wedding DJ! Ska or not, book me here.
