‘Round the Mailbox today?

Out shopping today (Saturday 21st August)? I’ll be outside the Mailbox in Birmingham, just down by the canal, as your event host for the Mailbox Family Fun Day! Bring the kids, have a chill and I’ll play some tunes. The event starts from midday. It should be fun so let’s hope the weather holds afterall it is August in the UK :o

It’s a big day today as I will be straight off to Ettington Park in Stratford Upon Avon this evening to DJ for Sam & James and their guests. I’ve been the wedding DJ at Ettington Park several times and there is something about the venue that always makes for a good night. Maybe they put something in the water. Or should I say the Champers!

The most embarrassing compere and event host in Solihull! ;o)

I’m hosting my lads’ school summer fair and it seems to be to their total dismay! Maybe when you’re 11 it’s not cool to have your Dad playing the tunes but you know what? I don’t care! Whilst I have the mic I may bust out the baby pics too!! ;) Hello to all at the Chapel Fields Summer Fair. It’s great fun this!

I’m tyre-ed. Groan…

This is fun. I’m the Event Host in Solihull tonight for the TRA Tyre Industry Dinner & Awards 2010. It’s a ‘swinging sixties’ themed evening with Lulu, Dusty Springfield and Diana Ross providing the entertainment.

OK – they’re all tributes – but I felt big time for a minute or two… ;)

Rock With Laughter 2010

It’s back and I for one can’t wait! Lenny Henry and a huge host of comedy and music stars will be back at the revamped LG Arena for the Rock With Laughter Show this December.

Joining Lenny will be a veritable cocktail of Christmas party spirits including Beverley Knight, Ed Byrne and Alan Carr. I can’t WAIT to meet Rolf Harris and I’m so gonna get a picture with him. Bjorn Again & Adrian Edmondson & The Bad Shepherds will be providing music as will  Slade. Well it’ll be CHRIIIIIIIIIIIISTMAAAAAAAAS after all!

I’ll be taking to the turntables to DJ at the exclusive Backstage Party. Bjorn Again will be doing a special set too and I can highly recommend this show. I DJ’ed it last year and it was the perfect Christmas Party experience. Get tickets or more details from The Rock With Laughter website and I’ll see you for massive a Christmas do!

Race For Life 2010 at Cannon Hill Park, Birmingham

Just a quick word of thanks to all the girls who took part in Race For Life in Birmingham’s Cannon Hill Park this week. I was immensely proud to be the Event Host and Compere for the Birmingham events. To sum the ladies up as a sea of pink would probably suffice but I’ll go further; it was like Birmingham’s biggest hen do!

Whether you walked, jogged, ran or sponsored someone who did – thanks. You’re all stars! I’m got a bunch of pics on my camera so I’ll get these posted too. If you haven’t done Race For Life yet, you don’t know what you’re missing!

Dancing On Ice Live Tour 2010 (LG Arena Birmingham)

Well, what fun! On Friday night I took the guest-judge hot seat for the opening night in Birmingham of ‘Dancing On Ice – The Live Tour 2010′.  Despite being an Event Host in Birmingham I was still thrilled to sit alongside Biggins, Nicky, Karen and Kieron to lend my views to the contestants and pro skaters. Ok, so I’m a Wedding DJ, Broadcaster, Event Host etc and dancing isn’t really my thing but it was all in the name of fun and all my scores were high ones.

Me with the legend that is Torvill!

and the legend that is Dean!

Glitz, glamour and sequins don’t even come close! It is the campest affair but great fun to watch. The professional skaters were a wow and the celebs weren’t too bad either with Hayley Tammadon, Chris Fountain, Ray Quinn, Gaynor Faye and loads more all taking part.

Hayley did her ‘Jai Ho’ routine and it was a straight 6 for me. And what a lovely girl she is, too!

My lads met Hayley (and got very excited!)

As far as the panel were concerned I was looked after by Nicky, cried with laughter at Biggins, developed a man crush on Kieron and gawped at Karen’s sexy red heels!!!

God, this man is funny...

Lovely Karen Barber who wore the sexiest shoes I've ever seen!

Two of my fellow judges, Nicky and Kieron.

The best thing I’ve ever been asked? Kieron: “Have we played rugby together before?!” No, I was on the tour last year too but I’m gonna let you pretend that I played rugby at a high level!! ;o)

Back to work then and 40th Birthday Party and Wedding DJ committments are calling. Click here for information on booking Dave Clarke for your event.

The ice nerves are growing!

It doesn’t seem like 5 minutes ago that I posted about my involvement with The Dancing On Ice Live Tour 2010, but it’s nearly here! On Friday night I shall join the porfessional judges on the judging panel at the LG Arena and I CAN’T WAIT!!! It really is the best seat in the house to see stars like Hayley Tammadon, Chris Fountain and Ray Quinn doing their ice dance magic.

It's gonna be a 6.0 for Ray, I know it is!

Do give me a wave and hopefully I’ll get the marks right. Last year I did give Kieran Bracken a 5.5 when all the professional judges gave a 6.0. – ‘floor open up and swallow me’ didn’t come close!

Do something everyday that scares you just a little?!

Who was it who uttered that immortal pearl of wisdom? I usually get my scares from fatherhood and motorcycle riding but tonight it is from good old fashioned DJing! Yes, 22 years of this and rarely do I admit to being nervous.

I’m about to go on stage and perform as a corporate DJ for a client at the Birmingham Metropole. Tonight is the annual awards ceremony for the Tile Association and I’ve been booked by a London agent. “Turn up”, they said, “it’ll all be ready for you”, they said. I’m here and no-one is ready for me! I don’t even think they knew I was coming!! Oh well, working with a different sound team will be a challenge and the Tile Massive seem quite up for it, so it could be fun.

I’ll let you know if I’ve survived it come 1am… ;)
